When it’s right all calmness proceeds in life,
puzzles fit together perfectly,
blue skies fill the picture,
billow-shaped clouds are soft,
inviting you to relax
But when it’s wrong everything is turned upside down,
nothing seems to work,
gears are broken,
rusty sprockets grind,
dark, menacing skies fill your days,
torrential downpours,
lightning bolts smashing at your feet,
everyone’s frowning,
put on scowls for more misery
Like a stab to the core … when love doesn’t work

I love how you turned this poem around - especially as I didn't see the ending coming! Your metaphoric examples were really well-drawn, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd yep - I'm planning on taking part in NaPoWriMo - so we can cheer each other on! ☼
Thanks RJ, here's to cheerleading! Yay!

Great prose; I almost went with lightening and blue skies, but chose the sea instead! I love the grinding gears, such great imagery! Well Done~
ReplyDeleteso well done ... a contrast is brought out very perfect.
ReplyDeleteWell said, and oh so true. And in response to your question posted on my blog, I live in New York City (Bayside, Queens) and grew up on Long Island (Massapequa Park).
ReplyDeleteI like the way you've described 'love' gone wrong. Yes, what we love the most hurts us most, cuz love is what we are made of.
