Taking sand from my eyes
seeing clearly
to give you my discernment
while
Removing grime from my mind
thinking distinctly
to show you principles that aren’t
the same as yours
after
Withdrawing a sword from my spine
feeling less anguish
to experience no ire toward you
as if
Unsaying words that offended
will help me rest peacefully
I’ll do this before I die

Beautiful words, Pamela.
Paul, we certainly cannot unsay what has been said, but times I do wish I could.
ReplyDeleteFantastic and so powerful, Pamela.......wowzers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry:)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Sherry this is very powerful. Nice writing Pamela. :-)
ReplyDeleteVivid imagery. Sword in the spine...wow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susannah and I do believe in live and let live. I have met a few people in my life who
ReplyDeletefor whatever reason enjoyed insulting me.
I have chosen to ignore them. Rising above the fray, so to speak.
Haven't we all had that sword in our spine at
ReplyDeleteone time or another, Ollie?
How very noble of you! LOL
ReplyDeleteYa think so Jinksy?
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying:)
Wow, sword in the spine, powerful and cutting to the core! I love the honest and forethought!
ReplyDeleteGreat Poem~
Pamela,
ReplyDeleteYour very powerful words, can apply to my life also!
Words and apologies, which I am still waiting for from my youngest sister!
Too late for apologies from my father. His legacy to me!
Thank you for your very realistic view on this subject!
Eileen :)
Ella, I really felt uncertain about posting this.
ReplyDeleteThis is not meant in mean-spirited form at all.
Eileen, these are my thoughts for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI believe leaving behind our values is the most
important thing. We must be realistic and know that we make mistakes and so do others. Forgiving is a big part of it and not repeating the errors.
This makes me think for sure. I want to say the words sooner rather than later though. I love that you said you would leave "principles that aren't the same as yours". I think that is how we grow.
ReplyDeleteJudy, it is indeed how we grow. Life is about
ReplyDeletegrowing every day.
