my footsteps day #29 PAD november chapbook challenge-a step poem

I approach things,
in a structured fashion
One small increment at a time

Though I want to rush at life
In wide gaited strides
Reality keeps me
Reserved
Cautious
Poised

All the while,
I want to ramble
Whirl around
Fly off the mountain’s top
Dance in the streets in silly outfits
Sing on a bus going into town

It’s just not my style
So, I’ll continue on my path
Taking one step at a time

  5. I do take one step at a time as well, but sometimes (like in your poem) I'd really like to whirl around a bit (and smell roses) and not have to progress!

  6. I'd love to sing on the bus - but they'd throw me off:) Love this poem, so relatable.

  7. Mary,
I hear what you are saying. But I am really too reserved for that kind of behavior. Funny seeing how I live in a culture where people are so free about dancing and singing. I find it quite charming. I shall live vicariously through them.

  8. Sherry,
Thanks and I am sure they would throw me to the curb. Here there are people who get on the buses to sing for money. When I first saw that I was just amazed.

  9. Great poem, Pamela! I can very much relate to the free spirit kept from complete abandon, tempered by practicality. Very well said!

  10. Shari,
    Thanks.
It is just not in my personality to be so carefree. Though so many times I wish I could be.

  12. you have struck an inner desire for most of us. we would love to scream and shout but something holds us back and that is probably a good thing. I doubt I would be happy in nut house.
you have put to words what a lot of us think and cannot find the right way to say it. great writing

  13. fiveloaf,
Agreed, I see a lot of envious people, who should take the time to see what they have. We are all blessed in our own way. Thanks.

You have made a good point here. I too, would not be happy in a nut house. That is of course if, I didn't know the difference ;) Thanks.
