Sometimes I get lost in my
thoughts as they move in
an obscure direction, forgetting that
I'm not lonely or sad and must
Beware of …
the desperate and confused
wandering around me
black widows,
brown recluse,
tarantula,
hobo,
just looking for
a place to lay, to
burrow in my skin.
Bloodsuckers all around
love to poison
with vicious lies …
Always looking for … a victim
A scorpion’s poisonous tail,
one sting you’re
paralyzed
Watch them chase their tails
as they sting themselves to death

I forgot to tell you what

One does have to beward of those blood suckers that poison with lies. Hopefully insect repellant will do the trick. Well written poem, Pamela.
ReplyDeletelovely piece,
ReplyDeleteI see bloodsuckers everywhere here yet you find your way to stay...
lingering ending,
Happy Sunday!
Mary do you think the repellant will work? Probably not, oh darn it. Thanks.

I spent a lot of years around an assortment of bloodsuckers who helped me build an immunity to their BS...felt.
ReplyDeleteHa, I enjoyed this read, though the creepy crawlies made me kinda skeered:)Loved the last stanza especially.
ReplyDeleteYou really took us on a journey through your thoughts - like a spider dancing a tarantella..(ps I wish I had dreams like yours!) Jae
ReplyDeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteAs a Scorpio, I promise to tread very carefully beside your wonderful words!!!!
Loved this poem....
Eileen:)

Thanks Sherry and "chuffed" is not a word I use.
ReplyDeleteBut here it is appropriate.
Pamela

As a Pisces I offer you safe passage. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Pamela
Diane a friend here told us if you pour rubbing alcohol on a scorpion they will sting themselves to death. Ugh! I haven't ever tried that experiment.

I'm also a Scorpio (like Eileen), but I take no offense because I've always favored the Chinese Zodiac (I'm a Dragon!)
ReplyDeleteWishing you more peaceful dreams in the future..Jae

ReplyDeleteNo insult intended toward the zodiac sign. I am the rooster. Here in Mexico, (not where I live now) We found several scorpions in our house over a period of six years. We couldn't fumigate because of our pets (things are not like the USA)
My husband was stung 3 times in one year, from putting his jeans on straight from the clothes line.
I told him "shake your clothes". But no-one ever listens to me really ;)
Pamela
Thanks for the nice wish jaerose.
