"In your dreams" one shot wednesday #27

Suspicion is misbegotten
It lies in the soul of many a fool
Margins of extreme paranoia
A friendly aspect to ease your mind

It lies in the soul of many a fool
Vivid dreams of angry men
A friendly aspect to ease your mind
It’s your aim to console, open your eyes

Vivid dreams of angry men
With wicked people dressed in black
It’s your aim to console, open your eyes
As we watch from behind cellar doors

With wicked people dressed in black
Creating hysteria and disdain
As we watch from behind cellar doors
These things do not exist

Creating hysteria and disdain
Margins of extreme paranoia
These things do not exist
Suspicion is misbegotten

  1. I'm thinking this is a pantoum? Whatever it is, it makes its reiterative point very well, Pamela. I'm not going to presume to know to what or whom you're referring, but I think you've read my poem called The Well, so you know I'm revving on that particular vat of paranoia, mistrust, hysteria and suspicion hawked on 24/7 cable.

A rich and deep poem behind the short phrases.

  2. I enjoyed this a great deal. The damage of the emotions and smallness of the emotions is portrayed well.

It is a pantoum. I don't do much in the way of form poems. I am not real comfortable with them. I don't believe I have read "The Well". I did however just read "the still", which is fantastic. Paranoia and suspicion are two personality traits I really dislike dealing with. It always ends up being a no win situation.

  6. Intriguing imagery, effective use of hot-button words.

  7. Inspirational how you are able to touch the darkness, the paranoia just enough, then step away for moments to return again. Love the form, I will have to look it up and explore more there.

  8. i think the pantoum form was just an excellent choice for this poem - the repetition works well
