"Unconscious Thoughts" One Shot Wednesday #35

Can’t place my heart inside a crystal glass
when flying singed edges need repair
Form is lost … changed
Tin cans line streets
emerged with toxic waste
Forge a place of humanity
where furnaces never cease
Chase ghosts as they hide in
unseen corridors

Can’t place my soul inside a wooden box
while sliding on slippery pitches
Shape is found …regained
Plastic-filled waterways
choking out life
Consciousness of others lost
when the sun burns hardest
Pursuit of demons is forever
in scorched open fields

There’s a tree that leaves me
gloomy, while waiting for the night

  1. A haunting write on how we pollute this beautiful place, choking out life...choking out beauty and our future as a species....well done Pam...bkm

  2. An engaging barrage of imagery coming at us here - gives the senses a bit of a smack, especially when we reel back to see the gloomy portrait painted for us of our world...and are left to ponder our hand in it. Strong piece, well written.

  7. It's the time we're in, I think--if you look with any attention at the world, the night that's coming seems long and foreboding. Excellent piece, pamela.

  12. Joy Ann, I often think about our children. What
will they have to deal with, when we are long gone.

  13. A bit of an oxymoron, wouldn't say, Monty?
