"The Moon Through Branches" Collab #4 Breakers At Midnight

He cries to a pale cerulean moon; brightness is
keeping an eye forever frightful
On the trees we’re aware that
branches sway to something likely
A subtle rhythm may exist out there

Process notes: This is a cleave poem, it can be read three ways. I wrote this in response to Elizabeth Crawford and Jinksy's "Tuesday Collaborative Image" prompt.
Take a look over at  http://claudetteellinger.wordpress.com/
You might want to join in on the fun!

  1. Pamela, I have never heard of a cleave poem before. I like the two poems within the third one. Thanks so much for joining in on the collab. What surprises me is that you got so much from the image. Your poem is beautiful.

  2. Thanks so much, Elizabeth. I learnt about this form over at RWP, over a year ago. It is a fun form, if you can keep it cohesive. That's the tricky part.

  5. First, the last line of your verses really inspire me to rhyme something on the same lines...
Second, I love that image..it falls in place for the theme!
Third, nice form of writing..gonna research on the same and do something similar!
Fourth, nice choice of words; don't see them often!

  6. By a long way your best yet, I think. (Of those, I've read, of course.) This one had me intrigued and moved. The ambiguity adds to the unknowingness. Excellent.
